Senior Substation Civil Engineer
Position Overview

As a Senior Substation Civil Engineer, you'll serve as a technical authority and project leader, overseeing complex civil/structural design for substation infrastructure. You'll lead foundation engineering, containment design, structural analysis, grading, and equipment layout while providing professional engineering review and stamping. You'll also mentor junior engineers and influence design standards across the organization.
The Impact You
¿ ll Have
+ Lead and approve civil/structural design for substation projects, including advanced calculations, foundation engineering, and containment systems.
+ Manage small and medium-scale projects and contribute expertise to large, complex, or high-risk initiatives.
+ Provide PE review and stamping for engineering deliverables.
+ Ensure full compliance with codes, standards, and reliability requirements (NERC/MRO/SPP).
+ Mentor and train entry-level engineers and designers.
+ Drive innovation by applying emerging technologies to improve design and project outcomes.
+ Oversee equipment layout and site development strategies to optimize safety, reliability, and cost.
What You'll Bring
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a strong preference for Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license, NERC certification, or reciprocity
¿ eligible credential within six months.
+ Five years of engineering experience (master
¿ s degree may substitute for up to two years).
+ Ability to perform complex engineering studies and advanced design tasks.
+ Demonstrated capability in all aspects of substation civil/structural design.
+ Valid driver's license.

Experience with Ventyx, Cognos, Auto Desk, Bentley Micro Station
+ Master's degree
+ Advanced MS Office proficiency
+ Substation design experience
+ Deep understanding of NESC, OSHA, ASCE

Essential Position:
T his position will be required to report to work when business continuity needs are emergent and may be required to work hours beyond an employee
¿ s normal shift.
This position m ust be available for overtime work and callouts as required to ensure continuance of efficient operation.

Work will be performed in a modern office environment amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises.
Field:
Work will be performed outside in a wide variety of weather conditions (snow, rain, heat, cold, wind, etc.), terrain, and other natural environmental hazards as well as pollen and other airborne allergens.

Will work in construction areas that present many physical hazards.

Will work in closed or confined spaces.
Physical Demands:
Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal. ¿
Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
Salary/Wage Info
Grade: S6
Minimum: $109,942
Midpoint: $137,428
