Job Summary: The Investigation and Prevention Specialist assists with the prevention and investigation of all forms of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation within California State University, Fullerton. The role supports the development and delivery of educational programs, facilitates investigations, and maintains confidential communications while fostering a campus environment free from discrimination and harassment.
EssentialQualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.
- Minimum of two years of full‑time professional experience in Title VI, Title VII, or Title IX related civil rights investigations, or comparable work for an educational institution.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and organize educational programs and activities.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to advise students individually and in groups on program planning and development.
- Knowledge of relevant campus procedures and the ability to acquire new procedures quickly.
- Impartiality and ability to establish rapport with diverse community members.
- Superior judgment with management of highly sensitive and confidential communications.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity; ability to serve a diverse population and work diplomatically with staff, students, faculty, administrators, and third parties.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle a significant caseload and meet multiple deadlines.
- Experience building positive relationships and collaborative partnerships across the university.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of experience as a Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, or civil rights investigator.
- Completed training and/or current certification in conducting investigations for allegations of discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation.
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- Knowledge of California and/or CSU civil rights investigation procedures.

- The person holding this position is considered a general mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
- This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority; CSAs are responsible for reporting Clery Act crimes and must receive CSA training.
