About the Role

The Activities Specialist is the go-to for planning and delivering engaging individual and group activities designed to meet the diverse needs of our skilled nursing residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in carrying out activity programs that support residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being
  • Identify and support resident activity preferences, routines, interests, and personal choices
  • Facilitate individual and group activities under the direction of the Activities Director
  • Adapt activities to match residents' functional and cognitive abilities using task segmentation, verbal prompts, demonstrations, and hands-on assistance
  • Encourage resident participation while fostering dignity, choice, and independence
  • Maintain and clean activity equipment and supplies
  • Keep activity spaces clean, organized, and welcoming

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Positive attitude, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Previous activities experience in a geriatric facility preferred, but not required
  • Compassion for and interest in working with the geriatric population
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
