Medical Technologist - Rural Hospital Lab – UHC Staffing Medical Technologist - Rural Hospital Lab

Location: Winnebago, NE

Start Date: 03-09-2026

End Date: 06-29-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 7 on/7 off (work week: Wednesday–Tuesday), 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM NOC;
Every other weekend and holidays when scheduled

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform and document clinical laboratory testing across all lab sections to support patient diagnosis and treatment
  • Manage overnight lab workflow independently—prioritize tasks, multitask, and maintain momentum during your shift
  • Accession and process specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and prepare referrals to reference labs as needed
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment to ensure accurate and timely results
  • Adhere to infection control and safety procedures when handling potentially infectious clinical specimens
  • Maintain regulatory documentation and follow laboratory policies and procedures to meet accreditation standards
  • Provide excellent patient-focused phlebotomy and customer service to clinical staff and patients
  • Respond effectively to codes and traumas, adjusting priorities as situations change
Qualifications
  • MLT:
    Associate degree from an approved Medical Technology/Laboratory Science program and certification/registration (MLT ASCP, MLT AMT, or CLT NCA)
  • MT:
    Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science and certification/registration (MT ASCP, MT AMT, or CLS NCA)
  • Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Comfortable and experienced with routine phlebotomy and specimen acquisition
  • Ability to work independently overnight and manage workflow with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of infection control, chemical/biological hazards, and hospital laboratory practices
Education
  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology (MT)
Knowledge & Skills
  • Clinical laboratory testing and quality control procedures
  • Specimen handling, processing, and LIS accessioning
  • Equipment operation, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
  • Strong multitasking, time management, and workflow prioritization
  • Clear verbal and written communication and excellent customer service
  • Familiarity with regulatory documentation and accreditation standards
  • Ability to respond calmly and efficiently to codes and trauma situations
