The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,800 inmates. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). This is an at-will position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
The psychologist supervisor is responsible for providing clinical oversight of NDCS Aggression Reduction Program. This position entails working closely with individuals and groups to develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based interventions aimed at preventing violence and promoting positive behavioral change. Scope of work includes:
- Guiding staff on the use of standardized process to assess and gather data to develop comprehensive profiles and needs for individuals at risk for violence.
- Design and implement individualized and group intervention programs based on best practices for violence reduction.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create holistic approaches that address underlying issues contributing to violent behavior.
- Collect and analyze data related to program outcomes, making adjustments as needed to improve efficacy.
- Psychological testing and evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Psychology with a psychologist license by the Nebraska Department of Health. Required clinical internship plus one year experience as a licensed psychologist with management experience required.
Preferred Qualifications: Subject matter experience preferred.
Other: Proof of licensure required upon acceptance of a job offer. Must submit to a security background check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical exam and a drug test. Once employed, all incumbents must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services pre-service training program.
