Position Summary

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide rehabilitative services to residents in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting. This role focuses on helping residents improve their ability to perform activities of daily living and achieve their highest level of independence.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) program
  • Current state COTA license
  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care
Responsibilities
  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist
  • Assist residents with therapeutic activities to improve mobility, strength, coordination, and independence
  • Provide training in activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, and bathing
  • Document resident progress and communicate updates to the therapy team
  • Maintain a safe and supportive therapy environment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support resident care plans
  • Educate residents and families on therapy techniques and adaptive equipment
