PA-C or APRN (Emergency Department)

Job Summary The Physician’s Assistant is responsible for providing medical and/or emergency services including assessing and managing patients in the emergency department, hospital, outpatient, and clinic settings following established standards and best practices. The PA-C will practice within his/her scope and privileges as stated in the PA-C’s credentialing file.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain comprehensive and accurate patient histories.
- Review patient records and order appropriate diagnostic testing based on symptoms, medical history, and clinical presentation.
- Perform physical examinations and document findings in the medical record.
- Diagnose medical conditions and develop treatment plans, including referrals when appropriate.
- Coordinate hospital admissions and discharges, perform rounds, and maintain timely, accurate patient documentation.
- Interpret diagnostic results and patient data to guide treatment decisions.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Perform or assist with routine clinical, therapeutic, and minor procedural interventions.
- Maintain required documentation and records for clinical oversight and compliance.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, committees, and team-based projects.
- Provide patient care within the scope of practice and approved clinical privileges.
- Assess and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Collaborate and consult with on-call physicians regarding patient care and emergency situations.
- Respond to Rapid Response and Code Team activations as available.
- Supervise cardiac stress testing as assigned.
- Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution.
- Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current DEA registration or ability to obtain.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current ACLS certification.
- PALS certification may be required for Emergency Department assignments.
- NRP certification may be required for Emergency Department assignments.
- ATLS certification may be required for Emergency Department assignments.
