Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager
The Maintenance Manager is a key strategic leader responsible for driving continuous process and people improvements across the maintenance teams at the Valley Structures site. This role ensures the operational reliability and safety of all production systems and equipment by overseeing effective planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Maintenance Manager serves as a business partner to Operations, Lean, and Safety teams, working collaboratively to deliver superior results in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
The role is accountable for the performance of the maintenance teams across the site, ensuring they meet SQDC targets while maintaining high standards of efficiency, reliability, and compliance. Leading through the Supervisor, the Maintenance Manager will guide a team of up to 30–35 technicians and manage the maintenance scheduler, driving improvements in operational performance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring sustainability in maintenance practices.
Functions
- This position reports to site Manufacturing Engineering Manager and has approximately 2 direct and 35 indirect reports covering 24/7 operations for this location.
- Manages maintenance department operations to ensure proper support of manufacturing equipment, buildings, grounds, and related equipment.
- Provide direct leadership, support, and strategic vision to the Maintenance Team on a daily basis.
- Communicate departmental, divisional, and Company information to all employees on a regular basis.
- Actively build and promote a positive culture focused on continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies and goals that will meet the needs of the Business.
- Ensure all safety systems, processes, and policies are being adhered to at all times.
- Review and evaluate new processes and support equipment for the manufacturing operation. Recommend new additions or modifications to existing equipment to improve efficiencies, reliability, or safety characteristics.
- Prepare operating, supply, and capital budgets as requested. Coordinate all approved capital equipment projects, and support team efforts to maintain project expenses within approved budgets. Assist in the preparation of project appropriation requests.
- Review equipment, facilities, and related areas and establish priorities for maintenance and capital expenditures.
- Review equipment design and installed safety devices for effectiveness. Make recommendations for equipment or building modifications as needed to improve safety of operation or design. Review, as appropriate, operating procedures to ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate a full-encompassing preventative maintenance system to care for our assets.
- Review equipment inventory and determine proper levels of spare parts support. Design and implement systems to requisition, store, and control, distribute and replenish high priority spare parts, operating supplies and consumable items.
- Plans, schedules, and directs staff of skilled and unskilled Team Members in the maintenance of production areas.
- Ensures that all systems are fully operational and inspected in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
- Prepares cost estimates for maintenance jobs and inspects completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Oversees implementation of plant improvement projects.
- Ensures equipment operates with maximum uptime and efficiency to help increase manufacturing productivity.
- Builds and maintains a strong business relationship with internal and external contractor partners. Requests and assesses bids to complete necessary work. Ensures work is completed in a safe and productive manner.
- Ensures plant is in compliance with all federal and state guidelines to minimize the frequency and severity of industrial safety incidents and maintain environmental requirements.

- High school diploma and 10+ years of relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or Bachelors with 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong leadership, problem solving, planning, communication, and motivational skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, develop and direct people. Identify the best person for each task at hand.
- Must possess demonstrated engineering, mechanical, electrical and technical aptitude in addition to the ability to properly organize and manage personnel in the maintenance support of all manufacturing operations.
- Must be familiar with basic plant and auxiliary equipment as well as current safety, operational and environmental requirements.
- Should possess a high degree of flexibility to meet multiple priorities on various tasks for several departments to meet the needs of production schedules and manufacturing requirements.
