The Athletics department strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) and fits within the overall mission of the University.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
The Athletic Director will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the CSU Fullerton athletics program. This role involves managing day‑to‑day operations, fostering athlete development, ensuring compliance with NCAA and conference regulations, and engaging stakeholders including students, alumni, donors, and the broader community.
Essential Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least five years of successful management, supervision, and leadership experience in athletics.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and experience within a higher education institution of similar size and athletic program.
- Proven leadership in promoting and marketing athletic programs, fundraising, and implementing revenue‑generating activities.
- Experience in fiscal planning, budget management, and financial oversight.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage with alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, donors, students, and the broader community.
- Experience in strategic planning, donor development, fundraising, and public relations.
- Background check, including a criminal records check, must be completed satisfactorily.
- Knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations with experience in a Division I athletics program.
- Track record of success in athletics fundraising, donor development, sponsor ships, and revenue generation.
- Experience in fiscal planning, budget management, and financial oversight of a complex organization.
- Ability to lead strategic planning and organizational change initiatives.
- Strong public relations, branding, and external communications experience.
- Commitment to academic and athletic excellence and holistic development of student athletes.
- Must maintain a working knowledge of compliance with NCAA and conference rules and report any concerns or violations.
- Must file an initial Conflict of Interest Form 700 within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
- Must complete CSU sponsored ethics online training within 30 days of appointment and thereafter as required.
- Position is designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure Act; CSA training is required.
- Applicants may be required to disclose certain historical conduct within seven years after meeting minimum qualifications.
- Compliance with child abuse and neglect reporting laws is required.
