Jobs Responsibilities

The Director of Facility Services provides leadership to the Facility Services Department, including coordination and oversight for architectural and engineering planning and services; construction management; facilities operation, maintenance and repair services; renovations; energy management; utilities generation and distribution; grounds and landscape management and maintenance; custodial services; central supply; and motor pool operations. The Director has primary authority to manage the internal operations of the Facility Services department including personnel, budgetary and other departmental operations.

of Work Performed
  • Ensure departmental operations occur within budgetary constraints and are enacted in compliance with relevant College, Board, State and other policies, procedures, laws and reporting requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the campus community regarding facility management and services through open and transparent communication.
  • Provide for the safety of the workforce and those using the campus buildings and grounds by performing routine site inspections and co-chairing the Safety committee.
  • Positively influence employee morale, exemplify strong leadership, and foster a departmental culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, teamwork, service to campus occupants and visitors, and high performance.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching, training, and support to employees as needed.
  • Ensure the short and long-term lifespan of the campus buildings, grounds, and infrastructure through pro‑active building maintenance and renewal; daily cleaning regimens; and preparation of plans for renovations, renewals, and replacements. Serve as the main contact for the Task Force for Building Renewal.
  • Assist with student recruitment and retention by assuring an attractive, functional, and clean environment for learning, living, and working.
  • Develop and provide information and recommendations related to fiscal and capital budget requirements.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate work performed by outside contractors in collaboration with the Construction Project Coordinator.
  • Remain up-to-date and informed in current practices and all local, state, and federal codes and regulations relating to the facilities.
  • Responsible for Facility Services procurement including but not limited to bid/request for proposal solicitation and contract negotiation.
  • Analyze current practices, methods, and equipment and recommend changes where appropriate.
