Position

Summary

Momentis is looking for an experienced Greenhouse & Field Operations Manager to lead field operations at our 2.5-acre regenerative fruit and vegetable farm in eastern Nebraska, near Omaha. The role covers our greenhouse, high tunnels, and outdoor fields, with the goal of delivering fresh, regenerative produce to the Carson family, staff, and Omya—the family’s curated events and experiences program—including multiple farm-to-table events year-round.

The Operations Manager directly supervises Greenhouse & Field Workers and reports to the Director of Farm Operations. Candidates with real-world experience in regenerative or organic growing and a genuine interest in soil health and sustainable food systems are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Greenhouse management: Oversee year-round greenhouse operations — seeding, transplanting, climate control, and pest management — using regenerative, OMRI, and integrated pest management methods
  • High tunnel and Field production: Plan and manage seasonal high tunnel and field production; build crop schedules that make effective use of greenhouse, high tunnel and field space throughout the season
  • Regenerative practices: Lead the farm’s regenerative approach, including composting, cover cropping, no-till or minimal-till methods, and soil health monitoring; maintain awareness of relevant resources and certifying bodies
  • Coordinate with Head Chef:
Partner with the Head Chef to plan the growing season around culinary priorities — selecting varieties, timing harvests, and introducing new crops that support the menu and reduce outside purchasing.
  • Team supervision: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise Greenhouse & Field Workers; build a team that understands and is invested in regenerative growing
  • Safety and compliance: Ensure all staff complete required training, including GAP, OSHA standards, and EPA Worker Protection Standard (WPS); oversee safe handling, storage, and documentation of inputs; maintain compliance with local, state, and federal agricultural regulations
  • Recordkeeping: Keep accurate records of crop production, planting schedules, input applications, pest and disease observations, harvest yields, and staff training; provide reports to the Director of Farm Operations as needed
  • Equipment and infrastructure: Keep irrigation systems, greenhouse infrastructure, and farm tools in safe working order; coordinate outside repairs when needed
  • Harvest and distribution: Coordinate harvest timing and logistics to ensure consistent, quality deliveries to stakeholders, head chef, and restaurant partners
  • Procurement: Source and purchase seeds, inputs, and supplies that meet regenerative standards;

Work directly with Director of Farm Operations and Head Chef to create operation seasonal and annual budgets
  • Location: Eastern Nebraska (Zone 5b) — near Omaha and Lincoln. Farm address provided at hire.
  • Reports to: Director of Farm Operations
  • Direct reports: Greenhouse & Field Workers
  • Schedule: Full-time, year-round. Workload is heaviest late spring through early fall. Hours and days are flexible at the manager’s discretion.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation to the farm required; weekly local travel for supplier meetings, training, or events
  • Physical requirements: Active outdoor work in all weather; lifting and carrying farm equipment and produce; extended time standing, bending, and kneeling
  • Work authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States. I-9 verification required.
What We’re Looking For Key Skills
  • Regenerative farming knowledge: Hands‑on understanding of soil health, composting, cover cropping, biological inputs, and no‑till or minimal‑till methods; genuine commitment to building living farm systems
