Location
Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. This flex plant produces everything from whole pasteurized eggs to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.
ScheduleThis 3rd shift position runs from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
Position SummaryThe primary responsibility is to maintain the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned department area, ensuring compliance with safety work rules, Food Safety & Quality policies, and GMPs. The role also supports reducing product and process variability through consistent adherence to procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities- Overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the department area.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules.
- Follow daily production start‑up procedures.
- Participate in cross‑training for sanitation jobs.
- Report equipment or mechanical issues.
- Inspect area with teamwork.
- Execute plant goals independently.
- Reference the CP Manual for sanitation questions.
- Handle chemicals such as caustics, acids, quats, bleach, and peracetic acids safely.
- Conduct effective pre‑op inspections to meet RTE standards.
- Correctly titrate solutions.
- Replace gaskets.
- Perform daily pre‑op inspections.
- Ensure rooms comply with regulations.
- Follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and report any food safety or quality concerns.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace by following all safety policies.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Prior manufacturing and/or sanitation experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license; experience with pallet jack and/or forklift preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
- Basic arithmetic skills (adding and subtracting two‑digit numbers).
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
- Identify and deal with situations involving multiple concrete variables.
- Demonstrate open and honest communication.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others.
- Can safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Work independently or with others in a team environment depending on assignment.
- Self‑motivated and willing to ask questions and seek direction.
- Displays responsible behavior at work.
- Open to change.
- Work effectively in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
- Work around required cleaning solutions.
- Possess good hand‑eye coordination.
- Capable of standing on a hard surface for most of the shift, and performing physical tasks such as ascending/descending stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, and grasping.
