Job Overview
Maintenance Fabricator – Facility:
Deshler NE, Corporate Headquarters – Deshler, NE. This role involves maintaining, reconditioning, and repairing tools, fixtures, and related equipment; fabricating assemblies from work orders, detailed prints, sketches, and other instructions; setting up, programming, and operating a wide variety of machine tools, including CNC machinery. The position requires precision work with close tolerances and familiarity with safety guidelines.
- Manufacture assemblies from work orders, detailed prints, sketches, and other instructions.
- Set up, program, and operate machine tools and equipment, including CNC machinery.
- Work with very close tolerances.
- Demonstrate proficiency with all types of conventional machine tools and precision measuring instruments and equipment.
- Possess good mechanical and machine tool background and aptitude.
- Learn and demonstrate proficiency on CNC equipment as required.
- Perform critical machine tool operations to meet tolerance specifications on prints.
- Interpret detailed prints, sketches, written and verbal instructions and visualize required outcomes; sometimes work without full drawings or sketches.
- Show strong understanding/training in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (preferred).
- Use hand and power tools correctly.
- Follow safety guidelines throughout the company.
- Run a forklift and secure a forklift license if required.
- Read and interpret drawings, sketches, technical and service bulletins, product specifications, and SOPs.
- Proficiency in various measuring tools and equipment, including micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and other inspection equipment.
- Maintain strong communication and interpersonal skills; interact with other departments, professional staff, and management.
- Work with limited supervision and demonstrate initiative, teamwork, tact, good judgment, and sound reasoning.
- Complete projects within a defined schedule.
- Handle the physical requirements of the position.
- Maintain neat and legible handwriting.
- Basic welding ability preferred.
- Perform other related duties as directed by supervision.
- Read and comprehend blueprints, schematics and other drawings.
- Program and operate CNC machining equipment.
- Use ordinary hand tools and special measuring devices.
- Require strong mechanical and machine-tool aptitude and general knowledge of the skilled trades.
- Associate’s degree in machine tool technology or tool and die, or equivalent work experience preferred, but not required.
- Set up and operate CNC machining equipment, including mills, grinders, lathes, saws, and ovens.
