Maintenance Generalist 1st Shift - Tecumseh, NE

Schedule:

1st shift 6:00a.m.–2:30p.m., Monday‑Friday. Overtime as required. Pay: $22.50–$32.15 (depending on level of experience).

This position is responsible for the setup, adjustments, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment in designated areas, which include CAS, Picking Room, EV, Offal, Sorting, Utility Grounds, Water Plant, Waste Water, and entry Refrigeration.

• Perform preventive maintenance checks and inspections on assigned equipment, report findings to the supervisor, and take appropriate action.
• Assist in troubleshooting all malfunctions and repairs as required.
• Assist in testing all assigned equipment after repairs, changeovers, or extended downtime to verify pre‑operational status and audit performance.
• Communicate equipment malfunctions, corrective actions taken, and quality problems through appropriate departmental channels.
• Communicate supplies/parts requirements or needs through appropriate departmental channels.
• Assist with rebuilds, installs, and general projects across the facility in collaboration with all maintenance team members.
• Perform duties within the guidelines of company GMPs, HACCP, PSM Program, company policies, and Safety Programs (LOTO).
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, reports, and departmental forms.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Ability to use hand tools and trade‑type tools.
• Strong mechanical background required.
• Ability to identify industry‑standard parts.
• Work independently or as a team in a safe and efficient manner.
• Knowledge of safety regulations for position (LOTO).
• Must meet all physical and environmental requirements.
• Some electrical experience preferred.
• Willingness to work overtime.
• External requirement: 6months work history or participation in an industrial maintenance educational program. Maintenance experience preferred.
• Rehire consideration:
  Up to two (2) previous Tyson employments of one year or less may be considered, with a 90‑day waiting period.

Stand/Walk:
Continuously (at least 8hours a day) or occasionally (1‑3hours a day); bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder, crouch, kneel, push/pull.

Lift/Carry:
Frequently (1‑10lbs), occasionally (up to 35‑50lbs), rarely (over 50lbs with assistance).

Work regularly around moving machinery, both inside and out, with temperature and humidity changes, dust and fumes, and occasional ladder work at unprotected heights, alongside dead birds and a strong chicken odor.
