Bright Coop Dumper Operator
This position is responsible for the efficient operation of as well as any adjustments made to the Bright Coop Dumper throughout the production day.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure all birds are removed from cages according to Animal Welfare Standards
- Ensure the flow of birds to the CAS is consistent and adjusted as needed and/or directed
- Wash cages
- Remove DOAs from hatch area
- Other duties as assigned including Live Hanging as needed
Qualifications:
- Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively
- Must adhere to the CAS Department Animal Welfare Standards and practices
- Must meet production speed requirements
- Must only allow minimal downtime per day
- Must be able to work independently and make decisions
- Willingness to learn new ideas
- Willingness to assist in other areas of production and work overtime as required
Education and/or
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Communication
Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively
Physical Requirements / Environment:
- Rarely (0-1 hrs.): kneel, crawl, balance, lift/carry (up to 45 lbs.), push/pull (up to 100 lbs.), reach above shoulder height
- Frequently (3-6 hrs.): lift/carry (up to 10 lbs.), bend/stoop, twist/turn, squat, crouch, reaching at shoulder height or slightly above at a rate of 23-25 birds per minute if hanging
- Continuously (6-8 hrs.): climb or work at protected heights (steps to work area), stand/walk, simple/firm grasping, fine manipulation/operating controls, work around moving machinery, exposed to marked changes in temperature, around and amongst poultry dust and odor as well as animal blood, talk and hear, use 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses
