1.0 INTRODUCTION- The purpose of this procedure is to define and establish the functions, duties, authority, and responsibilities of the Plant Manager position for Todd’s.
The function of the Plant Manager is to manage all aspects of the liquid facility including Profit and Loss of the facility.
3.0 REQUIREMENTS- Education
- Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Equivalent - Preferred:
Business Management Degree and HACC Certification in Food Safety - Experience
- Required:
Computer Proficiency and exposure to ERP systems. - Required:
3 Years of Experience Managing up to 20 Employees - Required:
1 Years of Experience Managing Multiple Production Lines - Preferred: 3 Years of Experience Managing Multiple Production Lines in a environment that requires food safety inspection and auditing.
- Skill, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to Read, Write, Spell, and Orally Communicate Clearly in English
- Ability to Read, Write, Spell, and Orally Communicate Clearly in Spanish is a Plus
- Ability to Add, Subtract, Multiply, and Divide
- Ability to Analyze Numbers and Determine Department Efficiencies
- Ability to Effectively Communicate to Direct Reports and Department Leads
- Ability to Organize, Sort, and Categorize Incoming Materials and Goods
- Ability to Understand Metric and lb. Conversion Rates for Raw Goods and Incoming Products
- Ability to Motivate Leads to meet Production Targets and Goals
- Ability to Coordinate and Communicate with Multiple Personality Types
Body Positions:
Standing, sitting, walking, crouching, and stooping.
Body Movements:
Extensive use of hands, arms, and fingers.
Lifting:
Normal up to 50 lbs.
Occasionally up to 55 lbs.
3.5 Working conditions- Production Facility is a controlled smoke free environment.
- Employees will be expected to wash hands before entering Production Center and follow required GMP’s.
- Employees will be expected to wear gloves, masks, and other essential protection equipment as required by Quality Control.
- The Plant Manager reports to the General Manager.
- In absence of the Operations Manager, the Plant Manager reports to the Operations Manager
- The Operations Manager covers the management responsibilities for the Plant Manager when the Plant Manager is absent.
- The Department and Line Lead Positions report to The Plant Manager.
- The Plant Manager covers the management responsibilities of the Line Lead Positions and fills in for the Production Scheduler as necessary when reporting positions are absent.
- The Plant Manager Works with The Production Supervisor, The Operations Manager, The Quality Manager, and The Receiving and Shipping Lead/Manager To maximize throughput through the Production facility.
- The Plant Manager has the authority to delegate tasks to anyone under his/her direct authority based on their trained experience and ability to perform the functions.
- The Plant Manager has the Authority to Write up Employees, Enforce the Company Employee Manual, Discipline Employees and Evaluate Employees Under His/her Direct Supervision. The Production Manager has the Authority to Hire and Fire Employees Under Direct Supervision.
- Responsible for the Production Quality and Quantity of Work Through the
- Responsible for Profit and Loss of the Facility.
- Ensures all Quality Control Mandates and Good Management Practices are followed and actively Monitors and Models Quality Control Behavior
- Works with Production Supervisor to supports Work Center Production by Ensuring Staged Materials Are Moved in and out of Work Centers as Needed to Keep Production Moving Forward
- Manages Scheduling to Schedule Work Centers Based on Order Deadlines, Available Capacity, and Production Targets.
- Maintains an open orders log for the facility and manages the 42-21-10 production schedule of the facility.
