Position Overview
This position will be a part of the Planning and Development Office team and be responsible for project research and development, and fundraising including but not limited to grant drafting, editing, of application developed to support affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving the Winnebago community. The Project Development officer will work with department heads and program staff to ensure grant application quality.
The Project development officer will assist senior level and or contract staff on complex applications and special projects including renewed funding.
The position is also responsible for researching, developing, and submitting grant applications on behalf of 501(c)(3) status nonprofit organizations affiliated with or supported by the Winnebago community, as assigned.
SpecificJob Duties /Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision and values
- Familiarizes self with the various departments and programs of the Tribe.
- Familiarizes self with Tribal policies and procedures, and federal regulations related to grant applications and management
- Gathers information data, and related documents for raising funding including but not limited to grant applications.
- Research and identify grant programs that would support the various Tribal departments and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that align with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving the Winnebago community.
- Research and develop strategic approaches to various needs of the various Tribal Departments and programs.
- Collaborate with affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to develop and implement strategic fund‑seeking plans, including identifying funding priorities, potential funding sources, and timelines for pursuing grants and other funding opportunities.
- Develop logic models and simple evaluation plans.
- Prepares project budgets, writes application narratives, and prepares attachments for grant applications and other fundraising approaches.
- Assembles and enters documents, proposals and attachments in funding portals for grant application submission by the Planning and Development Director
- Conduct meetings to identify and prioritize projects needs as needed with Tribal department and program staff.
- Engages leadership, Planning and Development Director, and other as needed on complex application.
- Write or assist other tribal department, program staff and affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in writing grant application renewals.
- Review and edit applications prepared by department peers and or Tribal department and program staff.
- Provide timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements and procedures
- Troubleshoot conflict resolution with various agencies.
- Serve as liaison to supervisor, directors and staff and funding agencies.
- Coordinate funding program activities.
- Responsible for fiscal requirements of project applications.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Makes decisions in matters of significance.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years in grant application and writing or combination of experience and education; knowledge of Winnebago Tribe grant programs preferred
- Experience working with or preparing grant applications for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations preferred
- Excellent organizational skills
- Capable of identifying when experts need to be engaged in the project planning process
- Ability to work flexible hours/shifts
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong command of English to read, write, and speak fluently
- Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people
- Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness
- Self‑starter with the ability to perform with little or no direct supervision
- Ability to pass drug screen and background checks
- Must have a valid US Driver’s license
