Director of Communications & Youth Ministry

- Organize and coordinate a comprehensive youth ministry program for teenage members of the parish (i.e., those in grades 6-12) that involves catechesis, spiritual growth, service opportunities, and so forth
- Provide training and supervision for youth ministry leaders and catechists
- Maintain communication with parents of all teenage members of the parish
- Organize mission trips, retreats, or other youth events throughout the year and during the summer
- Identify and encourage youth to be involved in the liturgy and other parish initiatives
- Assist the Director of Religious Education with the preparation program for the Sacrament of Confirmation for youth (ages 10-18) in the parish
- Coordinate and implement a comprehensive communications plan for the parish
- Manage the parish website
- Oversee the production of print and digital content (e.g., weekly bulletin, parish email updates, social media content, etc.)
- Collaborate with Parish staff, ministries, and organizations to promote events, highlight parish life, and strengthen the Parish brand
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Complete the Archdiocese of Omaha’s Safe Environment Training Program and maintain current certification
- Knowledge of the “New Evangelization” as set forth in the 1997 General Directory for Catechesis and in the 2005 National Directory for Catechesis
- Knowledge of the framework for youth ministry as set forth in the 1997 Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry
- Knowledge of the process of making disciples and promotion of the New Evangelization especially among young people
- Ability to adapt and apply knowledge and skills to differing age groups and settings
- Organizational skills, capable of overseeing multiple programs simultaneously
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to produce materials quickly in a variety of styles
- Above average computer skills and knowledge of technology
Education and Experience
- Communications or marketing degree or experience in these fields preferred
