Director of Development, Humanities and Social Sciences
Administrator II – The Department of College and Program Development within the Division of University Advancement generates financial support for Cal State Fullerton, benefiting each of the eight colleges, Student Affairs, Titan Athletics, the Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and the Pollak Library.
Classification and CompensationSalary Range: $7,600 - $9,300 per month
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Director of Development for Humanities and Social Sciences. This role involves cultivating major gifts, building and maintaining donor relationships, collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and volunteers, and planning and executing meaningful donor events. The candidate will also design and implement stewardship strategies and support the university’s annual campaigns, corporate, foundation, and digital fundraising initiatives.
EssentialQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year institution in a related field.
- 4-5 years of demonstrated success in direct major gift fundraising, with the ability to solicit and secure gifts of at least $25,000.
- Strong capacity to develop and implement persuasive cultivation strategies that strengthen the giving pipeline.
- Advanced written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills for building and maintaining relationships across the organization and with external constituencies.
- Experience in planning and executing donor events.
- Understanding of university culture and ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and volunteers.
- Local travel to meet with prospective donors.
- Proficiency with general office equipment and Microsoft‑based computer systems.
- Knowledge of annual campaigns, corporate and foundation philanthropy, and digital fundraising.
- Ability to design and implement effective donor stewardship strategies.
- Completion of a satisfactory background check, including a criminal records check, is required for employment.
- Experience working as a fundraising officer in higher education.
- Experience in principal and planned giving.
- Experience collaborating with faculty and academic leadership to support fundraising campaigns.
A reliable source of transportation is required for attending events and donor visits at varying times. The role involves performing duties both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in varying environmental conditions. Availability to support and work at the university’s annual commencement ceremonies is also required.
