About the Chadron State FoundationThe Chadron State Foundation supports Chadron State College by securing and stewarding private support that advances student success, academic excellence, and institutional strength in western Nebraska and beyond.
PurposeThe Director of Annual Giving will help grow annual fund revenue, donor participation, and donor retention by leading coordinated fundraising campaigns and donor communications. This role will build a year-round annual giving system with clear messaging, strong organization, accurate data, and consistent follow-through.
What you'll do- Lead annual giving strategy with the CEO, including campaign goals, donor segments, key messages, channels, and performance measures.
- Build and manage a year-round annual giving calendar that coordinates appeals, stewardship, donor outreach, and follow-up.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate annual giving campaigns, including appeals, Giving Day, Athletic Giving Weeks, phonathon, and selected peer-to-peer fundraising efforts.
- Strengthen donor acquisition, retention, reactivation, and leadership annual giving through segmented messaging and timely follow-up.
- Manage assigned mid-level donor strategy in partnership with the CEO.
- Coordinate campaign workflows, list pulls, appeal coding, donor records, reports, and data accuracy.
- Partner with the Office and Stewardship team on acknowledgments, donor follow-up, recurring donor recognition, and campaign-based stewardship.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow Foundation standards for data handling, donor communications, reporting, and gift documentation.
- A clear annual giving system and campaign calendar are in place.
- Campaigns launch on time and use clear messaging, segmentation, and reporting.
- Giving Day, Athletic Giving Weeks, and phonathon operate as coordinated parts of the annual giving strategy.
- Donor retention, reactivation, and leadership annual giving improve through stronger messaging and follow-up.
- Campaign data, workflows, donor records, and reports are timely, accurate, and useful.
We are open to candidates with direct fundraising experience and to candidates whose skills come from communications, events, project management, alumni engagement, nonprofit work, sales, community outreach, or higher education.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to support or coordinate projects, campaigns, events, communications, or other deadline-driven work.
- Ability to learn fundraising systems, donor communications tools, and campaign reporting processes.
- Sound judgment in handling confidential information and public-facing communications.
- Ability to work with volunteers, team leaders, ambassadors, students, or community partners.
- Comfort working in a small-shop environment where fundraising, communications, events, and operations are closely connected.
- Candidates may be especially strong if they bring one or more of the following:
- Prior involvement in fundraising campaigns, donor communications, alumni engagement, nonprofit programs, marketing campaigns, events, or related advancement work.
- Familiarity with donor segmentation, campaign planning, appeal tracking, or performance reporting.
- Familiarity with fundraising CRMs, especially Raiser's Edge NXT.
- Comfort with online giving platforms, digital communications tools, peer-to-peer fundraising platforms, or event fundraising tools.
- Background working with volunteers, team leaders, ambassadors, students, or community partners.
