Department Details:
Active participant of the Nebraska Rural Health Workforce Incentive Program that offers monetary incentives to select nursing professionals, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, in exchange for a service commitment to work in a rural county for a 5‑year period.

• Provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
• Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for residents in the relevant clinical setting.
• Practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population‑specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan.
• Performs testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and provides the care needed.
• Recognizes problems, recommends solutions, and responds effectively to assist in an emergent situation.
• Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
• Contributes to the assessment of residents and administers medications or treatments as ordered.
• Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
• Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Builds and maintains effective working relationships with residents, health care providers, and the public.
• Communicates clearly and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Counsels residents, family members, and/or resident advocates, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician on prevention and treatment plans.
• Develops a self‑care program based on resident education principles.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• Must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
• Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the state nursing board.
• Maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
• Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training.
• For positions requiring IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program with IV therapy or completion of an approved IV Therapy course is required.
