Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents. They collaborate with residents and families, inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care. The RN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge, utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
They care for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. Responsibilities also include coordination of care, resident assessment, resident education and various other nursing interventions. The RN may serve as charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel, ensuring safe administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
All functions align with the Nurse Practice Act and administrative rules governing the state of practice and licensure.
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (preferred), such as Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Current, unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs, and/or multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
- Maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
