The Registered Nurse (RN) provides individualized nursing care to residents using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation). The RN collaborates with residents, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate care, ensuring competency across all phases of preventive care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.

The RN may serve as charge nurse, delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel within the scope of practice and ensuring safe, reliable resident care.

• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for residents.
• Collaborate with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and provide care plans.
• Coordinate and document resident assessments and education.
• Serve as charge nurse when required, delegating tasks to staff in accordance with job descriptions and competence levels.
• Work within the Nurse Practice Act, state administrative rules, and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
• Maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred; graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA) preferred.
• Current, unencumbered RN license with the state board of nursing for the practice location; multistate licensure acceptable if in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
• Completion and ongoing maintenance of required competencies and certifications.
