Job SummaryThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles and competency within the full scope of nursing expertise, applying age‑ and population‑specific standards related to physical and psychosocial needs as per the care plan. Performs testing to evaluate resident status and provides necessary care, recognizing problems, recommending solutions, and responding effectively in emergent situations.
Ensures health, comfort, and safety of residents; contributes to assessments; administers medications or treatments as ordered; provides technical support to healthcare professionals; documents interactions and outcomes; establishes effective relationships with residents, providers, and the public; and works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team. Communicates clearly, maintains confidentiality, counsels residents, families, and advocates, and develops self‑care programs as needed.
Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program and be a Licensed Practical Nurse; an associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
If the position requires IV therapy/management skills, must have graduated from a Board‑approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completed an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
Must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the state nursing board and/or possesses multi‑state licensing privileges. Holds necessary department‑specific competencies and certifications, and completes required annual CEU and competency training.
