Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation—to provide individualized nursing care to residents. The RN collaborates with residents, families, and inter‑disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care. The RN demonstrates competency within the full scope of nursing expertise and follows age and population‑specific standards as designated in their clinical setting.

Responsibilities include care of residents in all phases of preventive care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment; coordination of care, resident assessment and education; and various nursing interventions. The RN may serve as charge nurse, delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel within their competence level, and ensuring safe, reliable administration of resident care. The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules of the state.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (e.g., CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA) or hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs, or possess multistate licensure in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
