The Long Term Care (LTC) Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide individualized nursing care to residents. The RN collaborates with residents, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge, using age and population‑specific standards as designated in the assigned clinical setting.
- Care for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Coordinate care, conduct resident assessment, provide resident education, and perform various nursing interventions.
- Serve as charge nurse when required, delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel within job descriptions, required skills, resident care needs, and competency level.
- Provide adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
- Operate within the scope and standards of nursing practice outlined in the Nurse Practice Act, Administrative Rules in the state, and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred (CCNE, ACEN, NLNCNEA). A Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
- Holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs, or possesses multistate licensure for a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
- Obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
