Position: Registered Nurse - Inpatient Medical Unit ($10,000 Hiring Bonus)
Location: Boys Town

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Inpatient Medical Unit. This fast‑paced 14‑bed pediatric medical/surgical unit provides care for patients with acute medical diagnoses and post‑operative patients across several specialties.

Schedule:

7:00AM–7:30PM; 3 × 12‑hour shifts (36hoursperweek) with rotating holidays and weekends. Hiring bonus: $10,000.

Major Responsibilities & Duties
  • Use the nursing process to conduct admission physical, cognitive, spiritual, psychosocial, and functional assessment.
  • Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care, adjusting to the patient’s age and developmental level.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with hospital policy and provide reports to the healthcare team.
  • Assess patient and family understanding, provide education, and address educational needs.
  • Plan and coordinate discharge needs at admission and throughout the stay, implementing the discharge plan.
  • Participate in in‑services, patient‑care conferences, and department performance‑improvement activities.
  • Maintain Joint Commission standards and assist with readiness for visits.
  • Serve on hospital or system committees and communicate with unit staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate clinical competence in direct patient care and patient/family education.
  • Communicate concisely with patients, families, and staff; collaborate with the healthcare team.
  • Perform critical nursing assessments and apply critical thinking.
  • Understand and maintain a wide variety of equipment and supplies.
  • Complete patient documentation accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner.
  • Respond quickly and calmly to emergencies and stressful situations.
  • Independently manage multiple priorities.
Required Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse graduate of an accredited school with a current state license.
  • CPR (BLS) certification.
  • ACLS certification within six months of transfer or hire.
  • PALS certification within six months of transfer or hire.
  • Prior experience with computer programs and electronic medical records.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Minimum of two years acute hospital experience.
  • Pediatric experience.
