Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Inpatient Medical Unit. The unit is a fast paced 14 bed Pediatric Medical/Surgical unit that provides care for patients with acute medical diagnoses and post‑operative patients including General Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery, Craniofacial and Orthopedics.
Schedule7:00 PM-7:30 AM, 3 x 12 hour shifts, 36 hours/week, rotating holidays and weekends.
Responsibilities- Use the nursing process to complete admission physical, cognitive, spiritual, psychosocial, and functional assessment.
- Formulate and review plan of care, updating as needed.
- Plan and give care based on the patient's age and developmental level.
- Document care per hospital policy and give report to the healthcare team.
- Assess patient/family understanding and educational needs; provide education.
- Assess patient/family discharge needs at admission and throughout stay, and develop discharge plan.
- Participate in in‑services, patient care conferences, and unit readiness for Joint Commission visits.
- Participate in department performance improvement activities and serve on hospital or system committees as assigned.
- Provide patient care and education according to the patient population served.
- Demonstrate clinical competence in safe, quality direct patient care and education.
- Communicate concisely with patients, families and staff.
- Make nursing assessments and critically think.
- Know how to use and maintain a wide variety of equipment and supplies.
- Document care thoroughly, concisely, accurately, and timely.
- Respond quickly and calmly to emergencies and stressful situations.
- Independently manage multiple priorities.
- Registered nurse graduate of an accredited school with current state license.
- CPR (BLS) certification.
- ACLS certification within six months of hire.
- PALS certification within six months of hire.
- Prior experience using electronic medical records.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Minimum two years in acute hospital setting.
- Pediatric experience.
