Active participant of the Nebraska Rural Health Workforce Incentive Program that offers monetary incentives to select nursing professionals, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, in exchange for a service commitment to work in a rural county for a 5‑year period.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for residents in the relevant clinical setting and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge. The LPN utilizes age‑ and population‑specific standards related to physical and psychosocial needs as per the care plan, performs testing to evaluate residents’ status, administers medications or treatments as ordered, and documents resident interactions and outcomes.
The LPN contributes to resident assessment, provides technical support to healthcare professionals, maintains effective working relationships with residents, health care providers, and the public, communicates clearly, maintains confidentiality of sensitive information, and counsels residents, families, and advocates on prevention and treatment plans.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- For positions requiring IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota, graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing is required.
- Must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing board and/or possesses multi‑state licensure privileges.
- Obtains and maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications, completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training, and complies with facility requirements.
