Position Overview
As an inpatient adult behavioral health RN, you provide direct nursing care in an inpatient psychiatric unit, including assessment, medication administration, and crisis intervention within a multidisciplinary team.
You contribute to safety, stability, and recovery by implementing treatment plans and coordinating care with psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive mental and physical health assessments on admission and during stay
- Administer psychiatric and medical medications; monitor for adverse effects
- Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team and participate in daily rounds
- Prepare and implement individualized treatment plans; document progress
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and implement safety protocols
- Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, and discharge planning
- Document all care activities in the electronic health record
- Support transition planning and linkages to outpatient services
Education:
BSN or ADN with RN licensure; relevant psychiatric nursing experience is preferred
Licensure:
Current RN license in the applicable state
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC) preferred
Experience or Skills:
Experience in inpatient psychiatric units, crisis intervention, and patient-family education
Experience- Inpatient behavioral health nursing with adults
- Experience with medication management and safety planning
- Documentation in EHR and multidisciplinary collaboration
Work in an inpatient psychiatric unit within a hospital or behavioral health facility; fast-paced with potential for short-notice admissions
Collaborates with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and unit staff; documentation in EHR and adherence to safety and privacy guidelines.
