Department Details

The department is an active participant of the Nebraska Rural Health Workforce Incentive Program, offering monetary incentives to select nursing professionals—including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs—to work in rural counties for a 5‑year commitment.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents. Responsibilities include collaborating with residents and families, and inter-disciplinary colleagues such as providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care; demonstrating competency within the full scope of nursing expertise; and employing age and population–specific standards appropriate to the clinical setting. The RN cares for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment;

coordinates care, conducts resident assessments, educates residents, and performs various nursing interventions. The RN may also serve as charge nurse, delegating tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel while ensuring safe, reliable delivery of resident care and resolving care and service concerns. All duties are performed within scope and standards outlined in the Nurse Practice Act, Administrative Rules, and the American Nurses Association's Code of Ethics.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (preferred); accredited by CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (preferred).
  • Current, unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing in the state of practice; multistate licensure acceptable under a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required departmental competencies and certifications.
