Job Summary
Administers the nursing program in a long term care facility to maintain standards of resident care. Facilitates the optimization of the geriatric care process to improve the quality and efficiency of service. Responsible for the overall quality of care provided by the organization's nursing personnel. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service and strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups.
- Monitors operations of nursing staff and ensures compliance with regulations and standards.
- Schedules staff and conducts employee performance reviews.
- Provides nursing care to residents on an as-needed basis.
- Assists in the development and implementation of marketing activities/programs including community events and media activities.
- Has overall responsibility for day‑to‑day operations of long‑term care facility, covering resident care quality, program management, environmental safety, budget constraints, and regulatory compliance.
- Performs delegation and coordination for clinical, operational, and managerial activities to accomplish department objectives.
- Manages and directs work of individuals or teams.
- Maintains communication and addresses evolving healthcare environment across the system.
- Leads development and execution of clinical programs, policies, procedures, and protocols ensuring system integration and adherence.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred but not required.
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (e.g., CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA).
- For Rural Health Network facilities and GSS locations, employees without a bachelor's may be considered for a plan to achieve a degree within five years of hire.
- Five years nursing experience required.
- Housing/Urban Development (HUD) and/or assisted living experience helpful.
- Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and nursing care standards, and working knowledge of administrative and management techniques.
- Current unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs, and/or multistate licensure for NLC states.
- Obtains and maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Sign‑on bonus and additional incentive bonus program.
