Join Community Medical Center as the Clinical Nurse Manager, where you will play a vital role in enhancing patient care and support clinical operations in the Med Surg and ER departments. Be part of a dedicated team focused on providing exceptional healthcare services in Falls City, NE.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to work cohesively with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Emergency Room (ER) Director to support the department’s day-to-day operations.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an RN who enjoys a combination of clinical nursing, leadership, education, and administrative responsibilities. The RN will support the DON and ER Director with day-to-day nursing operations, assist with nursing administration call coverage on weekends and holidays, and provide clinical coverage in the hospital's Med Surg and Emergency Department as needed.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, clinically competent, dependable, and comfortable taking on leadership responsibilities in a rural hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Nursing and ER Director with daily nursing operations and administrative responsibilities.
  • Oversee scheduling of department personnel, adjusting staffing assignments as needed to meet patient care needs, productivity targets and organizational requirements.
  • Serve as a resource and support for nursing staff across departments.
  • Participate in the nursing administration weekend and holiday call rotation in collaboration with the DON.
  • Assist with staffing needs, including finding coverage and responding to staffing concerns.
  • Provide clinical support and nursing coverage on the patient care floor and in the Emergency Department as needed.
  • Step into direct patient care roles during staffing shortages, high census, emergencies, or other operational needs.
  • Support quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Assist with staff education, orientation, competency validation, and ongoing professional development.
  • Help promote consistent adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
  • Assist with communication and coordination between nursing staff, providers, administration, and other departments.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and nursing department projects.
  • Provide leadership and clinical guidance to nursing staff while maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Assist the DON and ER Director with other duties and special projects as assigned.
Position Schedule
  • 40 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling with a combination of administrative and clinical responsibilities.
  • Participation in weekend and holiday nursing administration call with the DON is required.
  • Clinical coverage of the nursing floor and ER may be required based on staffing and patient-care needs.
Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or an active license in a compact state.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • NRP, PALS, TNCC and/or other applicable certifications preferred or obtained within one year of hire.
  • Previous hospital nursing experience required including ER experience.
  • Prior charge nurse, leadership, supervisory, or administrative experience highly preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, and make sound decisions in a rural hospital setting.
  • Ability to effectively transition between administrative, leadership, and direct patient-care responsibilities.
