Position: Breeding Specialist (Part-time)

We are seeking individuals who demonstrate these values for a Breeding Specialist Position. As a Breeding Specialist, you can count on becoming not just part of a growing company, but a family.

POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE

The purpose of the Breeding Specialist to perform daily production tasks involved in the breeding process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Specifically, the Breeding Specialist is responsible for the following activities:

Production/Production Scheduling
  • Conduct artificial breeding, as directed
  • Perform daily heat checks on animals and check bred groups for recycles
  • Perform routine and seasonal vaccinations, as directed
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts
  • Perform general feed maintenance on bred and open animals
  • Ensure a proper animal environment, including but not limited to ventilation, water, and feed
  • Ensure a clean animal housing environment
  • Assist in power washing, as assigned
  • Ensure that SFI training program requirements and procedures are being met and followed
  • Maintain and follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures
  • Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.
  • Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation.
Documentation
  • Assist in maintaining all sow breeding records and documentation on sow removal records, transactions, and treatment records
  • Maintain PQA certification status

  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
  • Weekend and Holiday work rotations as established by Supervisor will be required
