Primary purpose:
Maintenance and lawn care of all tribal grounds, exterior of all tribal buildings, parks, parking lots, and the Winnebago Cemetery.
- Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.
- Snow removal & salt distribution for disabled senior citizens, dialysis patients, police/EMT/first responder’s homes, & 24 tribal buildings, as needed.
- Perform daily litter removal of all exterior tribal grounds to include but not limited to 24 tribal buildings, four tribal parks, U.S. Highway 75/77, BIA 3 & 17, & four tribal cemeteries.
- Mow and weed whip lawns, edge walkways, trim trees & hedges to give grounds a clean look at 24 tribal buildings, four tribal cemeteries and three tribal parks.
- Apply fertilizer, seed, and weed killer as needed as well as water all identified areas.
- In conjunction with the Winnebago Wake & Burial Program will complete grave digging (during and after funerals), prepare rough boxes, and assist with burial services.
- Cut trees & split wood for funerals, ceremonies, and for those tribal members using wood burning stoves in their homes.
- Responsible for the maintenance, and inventory of supplies & equipment owned by the company.
- Duties listed are illustrations of the work performed; omissions do not exclude related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required; must be able to meet driver’s eligibility guidelines for insurance.
- One (1) year prior experience in a grounds keeping position preferred.
- Knowledge of operations and maintenance of all grounds equipment (lawn mowers, weed eaters, tractors, bush hogs, backhoes, skip loaders, manual transmissions, dump trucks, chainsaws) required.
- Must perform all duties in a manner that adheres to and promotes defined company safety standards.
- Both indoor and outdoor assignments with frequent exposure to inclement weather; extended or irregular hours, nights, weekends, holidays; rotating shifts and duty stations; assignments subject to change without notice.
- Training:
Must attend all department meetings and training courses as directed by Facilities Manager. - Physical:
Normal to heavy work; ability to lift over 75 lbs; walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; operate lawn equipment and company vehicles. - Mental:
Reading, writing, calculating; above-average social interaction skills; reasoning/analysis; works with minimal supervision. - Language:
Must read, write, and speak English fluently; effective verbal and written communications.
