Assistant Store Manager - Town Center at Laurel, Laurel, MD

Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist the Store Manager in upholding the daily store operations of a retail store, ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandising execution, managing expenses and inventory, training and development of the store team, human resources management, and outstanding customer service.

• Overall quality and performance of the retail store staff.
• Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Models effective leadership and gains commitment to store goals and training standards.
• Assists with recruitment, selection, training, and development of store personnel.
• Provides feedback to Store Manager on annual performance evaluations for all store employees.
• Manages expenses and develops strategies to position stores in accordance with the budget.
• Monitors and identifies loss or inventory inconsistencies to keep shrinkage at or below company plan.
• Monitors and controls all aspects of operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
• Supports the training of all employees in selling and merchandising techniques.
• Ensures company customer service standards are upheld so each customer receives outstanding service.
• Assists in accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

• Minimum of one (1) year in retail management.
• Strong knowledge of business and excellent command of the English language.
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
• Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy in all situations.
• Strategic thinker with strong planning and organizational skills.
• Proficient analytical ability for data gathering, reporting, and problem solving.
• Results‑driven with critical and creative thinking skills.

• Willingness to work in multiple stores within the assigned district.

• Stand for extended periods of time; lift, carry, push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Work extended hours during critical project phases in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with flexibility.
• Reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.

• Pay range: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour.
• Bonus opportunities if guidelines or criteria are met.
