Position Summary
This individual contributor position is responsible for the performance of four basic functions:
Site security and safety, First Aid and Resuscitation services, observation of property and equipment for abnormalities, and primary point of contact for employee and non‑employee questions related to site access and security. The incumbent must maintain confidentiality, work effectively with staff and third‑party individuals, and support the overall mission of Valmont.
- Work a rotating shift: 48 hours one week and 36 hours the following week.
- Provide CPR, First Aid, and AED services to individuals on campus.
- Serve as a source of information for employees and non‑employees.
- Demonstrate outstanding integrity and excellent judgment in all duties.
- Evaluate each call accurately and decisively in accordance with Nebraska State Medical and Department Protocols, requiring continual training updates.
- Report to the Manager of Protection Services.
The Role
- Require self‑motivation and relentless dedication to confidentiality.
- Monitor CCTV/Security systems, fire systems, and remote access monitoring systems.
- Act on situations in accordance with Valmont’s policies and goals.
- Observe, question, report, and act on possible improprieties.
- Respond swiftly and confidently in emergency settings to minimize injury or loss of life; monitor property and equipment and report abnormalities according to defined protocols.
- Serve as a temporary company representative with customers and visitors, directing problems and inquiries to the appropriate Valmont contacts.
- EMT certification required within one year after hire date.
- High school diploma and 2+ years of related work or educational experience.
- Knowledge of basic law, physical security methods, site access control, confidential information control, theft control and investigation, incident investigation, high security lock repair‑installation, alarm monitoring and systems, safety procedures and policies, fire protection methods and systems, and C‑TPAT procedures.
- Valid vehicle operator’s license.
- Knowledge of emergency first aid, rescue, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods.
- Professional attitude and demeanor reflecting the concerns and mission of Valmont Industries.
- Annual training review of the facility’s hazardous waste management program.
- Ability to recognize safe and unsafe operating conditions, including boiler systems, key production equipment, gas storage, and hazardous waste storage.
- Criminal Justice degree (bachelor’s or associate’s).
- Certifications (CPP or PSO).
- Prior experience in a security role.
- Valid EMT or EMR state or national license.
The incumbent will work at the Valley, Nebraska facility, which covers approximately 400 acres and 40 buildings. Much of the time will be spent outside and in manufacturing areas, exposing the employee to noise, fumes, excessive heat and cold, dust, welding arc, chemicals, fire, smoke, unstable debris, confined spaces, and work in high areas. Employees must wear required PPE and complete related safety training.
The role requires use of hands and arms, standing, walking, sitting, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds, with intermittent loads up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. No travel is required.
