Lead HVAC Installer – Residential Service Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead HVAC Installer to oversee residential HVAC installation projects while leading and mentoring a team of installers. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who takes pride in quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and team development.

The ideal candidate has extensive residential installation experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to manage projects efficiently while maintaining high safety and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise residential HVAC installation teams on retrofit, replacement, and new installation projects.
  • Coordinate installation schedules and ensure projects are completed on time, safely, and according to company quality standards.
  • Interpret HVAC blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to execute installations efficiently.
  • Perform installations, connections, and testing of HVAC systems and components including condensers, air handlers, ductwork, thermostats, and refrigerant lines.
  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate installation requirements and identify potential challenges before work begins.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure system performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades to support seamless project execution.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and provide recommendations on equipment, system upgrades, and energy‑efficient solutions.
  • Train, mentor, and support junior installers on best practices, safety procedures, and installation techniques.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including equipment details, installation notes, and system configurations.
  • Stay current on HVAC industry trends, technology advancements, and evolving installation methods.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid HVAC installer license and/or certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience in residential HVAC installation, including leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation methods, codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with HVAC tools, testing equipment, and installation procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high‑quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and lead crews in fast‑paced environments.
  • Physical ability to work in varying weather conditions, attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
