Location: Chadron

This is skilled electrical work at the Journeyman’s License level, installing, repairing and maintaining electrical and communication wiring, electrical fixtures, equipment, and systems in campus buildings and dormitories.

Responsibilities

Install conduits, power conductors, switches, receptacles, light fixtures, and related components.

Maintain and repair electrical appliances, motors, fixtures, equipment, fire alarm systems, and sound systems.

Install, disconnect and repair motors, starters, controllers, and related equipment.

Analyze and remedy electrical problems with the control circuits of air conditioning and heating systems.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and layouts; draw layouts of electrical circuits to be installed as needed.

Secondary Duties

Operate and maintain public address systems and equipment for campus special events and athletic events.

Read and interpret city, state, and federal electrical codes.

Perform preventive maintenance work: exercise diagnostic programs, measure, record and calibrate field sensors and transducers, measure voltage and other electronic values, test and calibrate solid-state integrated circuits.

Implement energy conservation methods by engineering and designing monitoring and control subsystem additions to existing data-gathering panels.

May perform general maintenance on freight and passenger elevators in emergencies.

May be asked to respond to emergencies on nights or weekends.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation from Senior High School or equivalent supplemented by two years of work experience repairing and maintaining electrical systems or any combination of skills, knowledge and abilities that meet these requirements.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Ability to possess a valid State of Nebraska Journeyman Electrician or Electrical Contractor License prior to employment start date.

Salary

$44,141 - $51,099 per year.
