- Perform diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy‑duty trucks and road construction equipment with multiple computerized systems.
- Fabricate and repair equipment and parts using welders, welding materials, and methods to adapt incompatible parts, replace unavailable parts, secure attachments, and repair damage.
- Calibrate various systems on heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment that distribute materials as they pertain to road and weather conditions.
- Inspect new equipment to ensure specifications are met and set it up to be road‑ready.
- Evaluate equipment to identify adjustments needed for auxiliary attachments, equipment, and operating systems.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical, electrical, computer, and hydraulic system components to restore equipment to a safe and operational state.
- Maintain hydraulic systems; install and monitor electrical systems; repair steering, suspension, brake, drivetrain, and fuel systems; and repair/overhaul or replace diesel or gasoline engines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Practical work experience performing automotive/diesel maintenance and repair, including use of computerized diagnostic instruments and equipment; or post‑high school vocational or technical coursework in automotive/diesel mechanics, with instruction in computerized diagnostic equipment and automotive/diesel mechanical maintenance and repair practices.
Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Automotive Diesel Mechanics with experience repairing trucks or heavy equipment; experience in welding and fabrication; basic computer experience; ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 90 days of hire through the in‑house training program (permit costs covered).
Must be able to report to work outside scheduled hours for snow and other highway emergencies.
