Job Description

The Agricultural Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing both basic and complex diagnostics and on agricultural and lifting equipment. The starting wage is from $16.50 – $24 per hour. The role includes repairs and maintenance on customer‑owned and dealer‑owned equipment, including corn headers, combine headers and other agricultural implements, as well as fleet vehicles and lifting equipment. The Service Technician must keep a clean and safe work environment, continually develop technical skills with evolving products, and perform work at customer sites as required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintains good condition and cleanliness of company vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment, and returns tools to storage areas.
  • Follows company and common‑sense safety policies, uses required personal safety equipment, and ensures a safe work environment in the bay. Reports any issues to the manager for follow‑up.
  • Performs basic and complex diagnostics on agricultural, construction, and diesel equipment to determine required repairs or recommendations for future maintenance. Includes inspections for both customer‑owned and dealer‑owned equipment.
  • Completes all reports and forms for service operations in a timely and accurate manner, including inspection reports and work orders. Uses computers or tablets for data entry as required and ensures management is aware of any issues that could impact customer billing or satisfaction. Accurately tracks time for job costing.
  • Performs repairs on electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and diesel systems as requested, delivering quality work and meeting efficiency goals.
  • Participates in all requested job‑related training and development and actively pursues additional training programs to improve skills.
  • Works collaboratively with technicians, parts, and sales personnel, mentors apprentices and junior technicians as able, and works after hours (daily or weekend) as required.
Qualifications
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds without assistance.
  • Willingness to travel to training events and service calls as needed.
  • Capacity to work extended hours during the week and on weekends.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle status with ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Proficient in operating vehicles and equipment used in service shops (diagnostic equipment, forklifts, hydraulic lifts, etc.).
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ownership of an appropriate mechanic toolset required for the job.
  • Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of agricultural, automotive, and lifting equipment.

Hours / Work Week
  • 20–40+ hours per week
  • Hours will mostly be from Monday to Friday
  • Customer deadlines and agricultural seasonality may require additional availability
