Job Description
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for performing both basic and complex diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and lifting equipment.
Starting wage from $16.50 - $24 / hour
. The role includes maintenance on customer‑owned or dealer‑owned equipment, including corn headers, other combine headers, and a variety of agricultural implements, as well as the company fleet of vehicles and lifting equipment. The technician must maintain a clean and safe work environment, continually develop technical skills with evolving products, and perform work at customers' sites as required.
- Maintain good condition and cleanliness of company vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment, and return tools to storage areas.
- Follow all company and common‑sense safety policies and use required personal safety equipment. Ensure a safe work environment in the bay and report issues.
- Perform basic or complex diagnostics on agricultural, construction, and diesel equipment to determine needed repairs or future maintenance.
- Complete all service operations reports and forms accurately, including inspection reports and work orders. Use computers/tablets for data entry and keep management aware of any issues that may impact billing or customer satisfaction.
- Perform repairs on equipment (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, diesel) with a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Participate in all required training and development, and actively seek skill improvement.
- Collaborate with other technicians, parts, and sales personnel. Mentor apprentices and junior technicians as needed. Will work after hours, daily or on weekends, as required.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to travel to training events and service calls as needed.
- Ability to work extended hours during the week and on weekends.
- Acceptable motor vehicle status with current driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
- Excellent skills operating vehicles and equipment used in service shops (diagnostic equipment, forklifts, hydraulic lifts, etc.).
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Own mechanic toolset appropriate for the work required.
- Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of Ag, automotive, and lifting equipment.
- Part Time or Full Time
- Starting wage from $16.50 - $24 / hour
- 20-40+ Hours / Week
- Hours will mostly be from Monday – Friday
- Customer deadlines and agricultural seasonality may require additional availability
