Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Location: Wilcox Trailer Court
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment
- Remove defective parts by dismantling machines or components, using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools
- Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs to safely return equipment to acceptable operating condition
- Perform planned maintenance activities, such as cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery or plant equipment, as well as installing electrical equipment
- Work on hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electronic components, including replacing AC and DC motors
- Operate and perform MIG and Arc welding as necessary
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes and milling machines to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools
- Foster professionalism with all associates and internal and external customers
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, eliminating risk to health and the environment; notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices and report all safety and environmental incidents immediately
- Participate in peer-based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S
- Participate on project teams, star point teams, and kaizen events when needed
- Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role
Education: 2‑year technical degree in electrical field or equivalent preferred
Experience: Previous experience in manufacturing preferred

- Ability to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention
- Basic computer skills
- Vision: near acuity and accommodation for reading and performing job tasks
- Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail
- Must be able to operate material handling equipment and hoists, if needed
- Operate material handling equipment
- Perform work in hot and cold temperatures
- Work at heights above ground level
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently
- Twist, turn, reach below knee, push/pull, squat/kneel, stand, walk, sit regularly
- Use hands and fingers extensively
Report directly to Facilities Specialist
Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with processes and equipment
WORKING CONDITIONSThe employee may be subject to:
- High noise levels from operating machines and equipment
- Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels
- Exposure to nuisance fumes and dust
- Requirement for safety equipment (steel‑toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high‑visibility clothing)
- Standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting performed regularly
- High degree of manual dexterity, even under restrictive conditions
- Flexible hours and short notice for overtime
- Following other job‑related instructions and performing other job‑related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws
