Location: Waverly

Electro-mechanic Technician

The electro-mechanic technician is in charge of testing controls of all new and existing electrical control and safety systems in the plant, water treatment area, and all external buildings. PLC troubleshooting of new and existing PLC systems will be accomplished by this individual, as well as maintaining existing alarm systems.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Maintain, and troubleshoot VFD systems within the plant.
  • Work closely with maintenance electrician for conduit and wiring changes and installations.
  • Work closely with maintenance electrician to maintain camera system.
  • Troubleshoot all PLC systems.
  • Implement all control system changes and follow through to completion.
  • Work closely with maintenance fabricator on MIG, TIG, and Arc welding projects.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all conveyor systems and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all pneumatic systems and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all hydraulic systems and controls.
  • Work closely with Refrigeration to troubleshoot ammonia system problems including transducers, and control systems.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing alarm systems including severe weather, fire, security, and ammonia.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Certifications in any technical field or techniques is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to solve practical problems.
  • Good safety and attendance record along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in the area of AC/DC circuits and industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience in electrical safety and lock out tag out processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge in the theory and application of electronic devices such as industrial semi-conductors solid state drives and industrial control systems.
  • Experience in the operation of PLC systems and control and data collection instrumentation and transducers.
  • Working knowledge and skills in tools and components used in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems such as bearings gears clutches belts and seals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems.
  • Ability to repair pumps and fluid control systems.

Education and/or experience includes:

  • Training beyond high school including either an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology, or Electromechanical or closely related technical field, or a combination of education and experience which may include skilled trade programs military training or other training as applicable.

Communication skills must be effective.

Other skills include:

  • Basic microcomputer skills necessary to understand the operation and interfacing characteristics of microprocessors; experience in PLC operation to include basic system configuration and hardware relay equivalent instructions timers' counters data manipulation data communications and advanced programming commands as well as interfacing troubleshooting and application and program development.
  • Demonstrated skills or training in electronic motor drive technologies including servo- motors encoders tachometers electronic and mechanical brakes and clutches closed loop systems DC servo AC variable frequency AC servo and stepper systems.
  • Ability to use test equipment including but not limited to multimeter, megger, vibration analysis, infrared scanners, and sonic testers.
  • Computer skills:
    Competent in Windows based software such as Outlook Excel and Word; strong skills in document organization and using document templates and creating simple queries. Must be proficient or become proficient in CMMS Systems.
  • Good mechanical skills
  • AutoCAD
