Shift Supervisor
Energy Transfer is seeking a Shift Supervisor responsible for day-to-day crude oil and marine shift operations at our Nederland Terminal. This position is located in Nederland, TX.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees and directs up to forty hourly employees / contractors in the operation of seven ship docks, three barge docks, twenty-three pipelines and a thirty-three-million-barrel capacity crude oil and NGL terminal facility.
- Central point of contact for the crude oil and marine facility.
- Responsible for planning and assigning operations personnel for daily duties and overtime assignments to meet pipeline, ship and barge dock schedules.
- Coordinating marine & pipeline operations with multiple departments, customers and outside contractors.
- Report compilation & record documentation.
- Initial incident/emergency response.
- Provides guidance to resolve operational problems as required.
- Works closely with other departments to maintain efficient operations.
- Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Supports and assists HES training activities, policies and procedures.
- Provides supervisory relief in various areas in the event of a terminal emergency or business need.
Requirements:
- Experience with crude oil, ship/barge docks, storage terminals and petroleum operations required.
- Knowledge of marine, pipeline and terminal operations, with an emphasis on crude oil operations.
- Specific knowledge of tanks, pumps, meters, samplers, provers, valves and associated equipment.
- Able to interact with customers, inspectors, contractors, other department employees and regulatory agencies.
- Emergency response training and experience.
- Works a 12 hour, rotating shift and is subject to 24 hour, 7 days per week on call availability.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to comply with and enforce Company safety policies and procedures.
- Must have excellent PC skills and be proficient with applicable software applications.
- Ability to climb storage tanks and ladders, work safely in hazardous environments and the ability to respond to emergency situations as required.
- Must possess knowledge of DOT regulations including Operator Qualification (OQ) requirements.
- 8+ years of experience
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, however, pertinent experience may be substituted for college credits/degree.
- Petroleum measurement knowledge and supervisory experience preferred.
- DOT, EPA, USCG, OSHA, API, Texas GLO, and TCEQ knowledge a plus.
- Marine / dock operations experience.
Special Considerations:
- Position subject to being on call 24 hours, 7 days per week.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations as required.

- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
