Field Tank Welder; Nederland, TX

Summary: Responsible for performing welding and grinding functions per job specifications. Selects equipment and plans layout and assembly of welding. Works closely and interacts with supervision. Works with precise limits and standard of accuracy.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Tank Welders must be able to pass the following weld tests.

Carbon Steel Plate Test:

• SMAW E6010 (5P) 3G, Downhill
• SMAW E7018 – 2G, 3G, 4G

Specialty Vessel Welders must be able to pass the following weld tests.

9% Nickel Plate Test:

• FCAW (ENi Cr Mo3 T1 -4) - 2G, 3G, 4G
• SMAW (ENi Cr Mo -6) - 2G, 3G, 4G
• Must maintain a 95-100% pass rate on weld X-ray/visual exams.
• Mustbeabletoreadprintsandwritteninstructionsaswellasfollowverbal directions requiredtoperformdutiesandresponsibilities.
• Followweldingprocedurespecificationswhenwelding.
• Matrix Welders will receive a competitive compensation. Rate pay will be established upon successful completion of weld test.

Qualifications:

• Tank Building experience, preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain an active status within the drug testing program and pass background screening.
• Must possess or be able to pass the Basic Safety Council Class Courses
• Must complete the Matrix Service Basic Safety training and site‑specific training.
• Must possess a valid TWIC card.
• Site may require fire retardant clothing.
• Maintain clean shaven and/or free of facial hair so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly. (Site Specific)
• Must be willing to frequently travel/relocate.
• Must be willing to work frequent overtime.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to perform tasks at heights.
• Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools.
  
  Heavyliftingwilloftenberequiredtoperformtasks.
• Mustbeabletokneel,squat,andclimb. Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers. Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8-10 hours per day
• Mustbeabletoperformrequireddutiesforextendedperiodsoftime, ofteninsideconfinedspaces.
• Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures.

Hiring range: $32.00 to $38.00 per hour

While the position offers a wage range of $32.00 to $38.00 per hour, the maximum rate is contingent upon the candidate successfully passing the required weld test and demonstrating relevant nine nickel welding experience. Candidates who do not meet these requirements may be offered a lower rate within the posted range.

Per diem is paid based on days worked and may be adjusted if an employee works a partial shift. If an employee is away from work for a scheduled shift, per diem eligibility will resume once they return to active duty on the project.
