Schedule:
37.5 hours/week M, W, R 8 am‑5 pm, T 8 am‑6 pm, F 8 am‑12:30 pm
The Town of Needham is seeking two (2) highly motivated candidates to fill the position of Student Intern(s) within the Administration division of the Department of Public Works. These temporary roles will work directly with the members of the Administration Division team to learn procurement fundamentals, billing workflows, and how the team supports personnel onboarding.

Duties and Responsibilities- Gain foundational understanding of the procurement life cycle, assist with administrative tasks associated with procurement.
- Assist with drafting and mailing contract letters and extensions; organize and update contract files as needed.
- Assist in creating onboarding materials and departmental checklists for new hires.
- Assist with administrative tasks associated with the handling of space permitting and billing.
- Gain understanding of utility billing workflows and data infrastructure; participate in introductory training on how data is extracted from billing analysis.
- Assist in the development of reports using Excel.
- Create materials for the department’s social media.
- May support on long‑term projects as time permits.
- Applicant must be a student with courses in Governmental Studies, Finance, or an interest in municipal government.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks and duties.
Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.
