What You’ll Do
As a Surgical Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting surgeons and ensuring safe, efficient surgical procedures. Your responsibilities include:
- Assisting surgeons during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures
Performing preoperative and postoperative patient care duties
Verifying patient identity and surgical sites
Maintaining strict aseptic technique throughout procedures
Supporting an unobstructed operative field using suction, retractors, and irrigation
Preparing, inspecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment
Monitoring patient status during procedures
Taking and processing dental radiographs and imaging
Completing accurate clinical documentation and patient narratives
Coordinating necessary equipment and supplies for procedures
Supporting additional clinical needs as assigned
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry (required)
Dental Radiology Certification (Massachusetts required)
Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire)1+ year of dental or surgical assisting experience preferredDAANCE certification preferred
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
Excellent manual dexterity and clinical precision
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with clinical documentation
Calm, professional demeanor with patients and surgical team
