Job Summary:

Sunita Williams Elementary is seeking a dependable, student-centered Wellness Educator to join our team. We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about movement and can create a safe, organized, and inclusive environment where every child feels successful. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong classroom management, using clear routines and positive reinforcement to ensure the gym runs smoothly and safely, and is committed to the holistic growth of all students.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in 5th grade health education and K to 5 physical education
  • Support students’ social and emotional development through movement and play
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student learning, growth, and well being
  • Maintain a structured and safe environment with clear expectations and consistent routines

Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts DESE license in Physical Education PreK to 8 required, health certification preferred
  • Completion of a teacher preparation program, including student teaching experience
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in a physical education setting
  • Strong understanding of skills-based instruction and Teaching Games for Understanding
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional with a warm, student-centered approach

License: Candidates must possess a valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as a health and physical education teacher.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is determined by education and experience, ranging from Bachelor’s (Step
1) $47,412.75 to Doctorate (Step 14) $ (This range is prorated for a .75 FTE).
