Needham Public Schools is an inclusive, dynamic, and multicultural community seeking an energetic, skilled, and warm Wellness Educator to join our team. The role supports every child by creating a safe, organized, and inclusive environment that encourages movement, promotes physical health, and fosters social and emotional well‑being.
Job Summary: A dependable, student‑centered educator who is passionate about movement and can manage classroom routines, ensure gym safety, and advance the holistic growth of all students.
Position Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in 5th grade health education and K‑to‑5 physical education
- Support students’ social and emotional development through movement and play
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student learning, growth, and well‑being
- Maintain a structured and safe environment with clear expectations and consistent routines
- Valid Massachusetts DESE license in Physical Education Pre‑K to 8 required; health certification preferred
- Completion of a teacher preparation program, including student‑teaching experience
- Experience working with elementary‑aged students in a physical‑education setting
- Strong understanding of skills‑based instruction and Teaching Games for Understanding
- Dependable, punctual, and professional with a warm, student‑centered approach
Candidates must possess a valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as a health and physical education teacher.
Compensation and BenefitsPlease review Unit Contract A and the district’s benefits page for details. Salary is prorated for .27 FTE and ranges from $17,068.59 (Bachelor’s, Step
1) to $36,158.94 (Doctorate, Step 14).
